# David Lewis Schaefer **URL:** --- David Lewis Schaefer is professor emeritus of political science at College of the Holy Cross. Holding a doctorate from the University of Chicago, he was a three-​time fellow of the National Endowment for the Humanities and the recipient of numerous other grants to support his research. Among his other major books besides those mentioned above are _Illiberal Justice: John Rawls vs. the American Political Tradition, Democratic Decision-​Making: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives_ (contributing co​editor) and _Sir Henry Taylor’s “The Statesman_” (coeditor). He now writes for several online periodicals, including _Law and Liberty_, the _AMAC Newsline_, the _Washington Free Beacon_, and _Ford Forum._
