# Robert Whaples **URL:** --- Robert Whaples is professor of economics at Wake Forest University. He is editor of _The Independent Review_ and former book review editor for EH.Net (economic history). He is the editor or coeditor of several recent books including, _Future: Economic Peril or Prosperity?_ (2016), _Pope Francis and the Caring Society_ (2017), _In All Fairness: Liberty, Equality, and the Quest for Human Dignity_ (2019), _Is Social Justice Just?_ (2023) and _Underappreciated Economists_ (forthcoming). His research has been published in the _Journal of Economic History, Southern Economic Journal, Economic Inquiry, Contemporary Economic Policy_, and other journals.
