Samuel Gregg is the Friedrich Hayek Chair in Economics and Economic History at the American Institute for Economic Research, contributing editor at _Law \& Liberty_, and an affiliate scholar at the Acton Institute. He is the author of sixteen books, including _The Commercial Society_ (2007), _Reason, Faith, and the Struggle for Western Civilization_ (2019), _The Essential Natural Law_ (2021), and, most recently, _The Next American Economy: Nation, State, and Markets in an Uncertain World_ (2022). Gregg received his DPhil in moral philosophy and political economy from Oxford. As Hayek did, he calls himself a “Burkean Whig.”
