# Holodomor: The Forgotten Ukrainian Genocide **URL:** **By** Tess Terrible **Published:** February 18, 2020 --- The Ukrainian famine, known as the Holodomor, was not a natural famine, and to this day, Russia has not recognized it as a genocide. In 1932, the Ukraine was a thriving farming nation. At the time, Joseph Stalin was trying to take back control. He wanted to collectivize all farms and bring all agriculture under state control. These efforts led to man-made mass starvation in a nation where 85% of the population were farmers.
