Written initially as the third volume of Man, Economy and State, this work carries the economic analysis of the earlier 1000-page masterwork to its logical conclusion. Power and Market is, indeed, the most rigorous and far-reaching critique of State intervention into the economy in existence, encyclopedic in scope. Rothbard analyzes all types of government intervention into the economy, concentrating particularly on the different ways in which government can grant monopolistic privileges to some at the expense of others; on the injustice of taxation; the fallacies of moral objections to the free market and many other important issues. This book is the first consistent and systematic critique of every type of State intervention into the free market. It is a virtual encyclopedia and, like Man, Economy and State, it is an important handbook of arguments for liberty and of “intellectual ammunition.”
