Biography

Charles “Chuck” Hamilton has held executive positions at the Bessemer Trust, the Clark Foundation, the J.M. Kaplan Fund, the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, and the Albert Einstein Institution (longtime home of late nonviolence scholar Gene Sharp). He is the author of two essay collections: Radical Portraits: Seeking Liberty (2019) and Philanthropic Landscapes: The Value of Civil Society and the Practice of Philanthropy (2019). Before focusing on foundation and nonprofit work, Hamilton founded a publishing company, taught in New York City public schools, and worked for a community center in Brooklyn.
