Jeremy Shearmur
Biography
Jeremy Shearmur is an emeritus fellow at Australian National University’s school of philosophy. He taught philosophy at the University of Edinburgh and political theory at the University of Manchester, and was a research associate professor for the Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University. He was an assistant to Karl Popper for eight years. He is the author of Hayek and After: Hayekian Liberalism as a Research Programme and The Political Thought of Karl Popper, in addition to many scholarly articles. With David Gordon, he co-edited H. B. Acton’s The Morals of Markets and Related Essays; with Geoffrey Stokes, he co-edited The Cambridge Companion to Popper; and with Piers Norris Turner, he co-edited After the Open Society: Selected Social and Political Writings, a collection of Karl Popper’s most important unpublished works from the time following the publication of The Open Society.
