Leda Cosmides

Leda Cosmides is Distinguished Professor in the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where with her collaborator and spouse, anthropologist John Tooby, she co-​founded and co-​directs the Center for Evolutionary Psychology. With Jerome Barkow, Tooby and Cosmides edited The Adapted Mind: Evolutionary Psychology and the Generation of Culture (1992), the foundational text of the field of evolutionary psychology. Cosmides received her PhD in cognitive psychology from Harvard in 1985.
