Biography

Stephen B. Presser is Raoul Berger Professor of Legal History Emeritus at the Northwestern University School of Law and Professor of Business Law Emeritus at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. Presser’s research concerns American legal history and shareholder liability for corporate debts. In addition to numerous law review articles and political commentaries in journals and newspapers, Presser is the author of several books including Piercing the Corporate Veil (1991) and Law Professors: Three Centuries of Shaping American Law (2017). He received his JD from Harvard in 1971.
