Biography

Vernon L. Smith won a share of the 2002 Nobel prize in economics for his pioneering work in experimental economics. He got his PhD in economics at Harvard in 1955. Smith has taught and conducted research at many institutions over his career, including stints at Purdue University (1955-1967), the University of Massachusetts (1968-1975), the University of Arizona (1976-2001), George Mason University (2001-2008), and Chapman University (since 2008).
