Wayne Dynes

Wayne R. Dynes (1934-2021) was professor emeritus in the art department of Hunter College, City University of New York. He got his PhD at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts in 1969. Among numerous scholarly works, Dynes co-​edited, with Stephen Donaldson, the 13-​volume Studies in Homosexuality, and was editor-​in-​chief of the two volume Encyclopedia of Homosexuality. In addition to his work as a bibliographer and encyclopedist of gay studies, Dynes researched and taught art history, with a focus on medieval art and architecture.
